I went to download the new version of Audacity but I can’t get it to work.
I removed the older version and now I don’t have any version.
I get a message that says Create process failed. Code 740 requires elevation.
How do I get my old version back? Any help greatly appreciated.
As with most programs, you need to install as an administrator. Right click on the installation file and select “Run as Administrator”, then enter you administrator password when prompted.
Thanks for your help. The other thing is when I finish a track and go export as MP3 that choice isn’t there anymore. How do I get that back?
Click File > Export then in “Save as type”, choose “MP3 Files”. See here:

If Audacity then says it needs LAME, install LAME following these instructions:

I still can’t get this to work. I uninstalled everything and used your feeds. I haven;t been given a choice to pick MP3 .
what am I doing wrong? all was good until I downloaded the new version.

Make sure you got Audacity here http://audacityteam.org/download/ .
Please look at the following image. This is what you see after clicking File > Export:
If you are using File > Export Multiple, click in the box called “Export Format:” to choose MP3 Files. See this image:
If you mean that you cannot find where to change the MP3 export bit rate, click the “Options…” button after using either File > Export or File > Export Multiple and after having chosen “MP3 Files”.
