I was wondering what’s all your current opinions on it, now that it is 2012. I like to sing for fun (youtube video covers) and I was wondering if this is worth buying. I’m by no means professional, but I would like a microphone that doesn’t have static and can handle high-notes / dynamics while I sing.
I really know nothing about microphones and such, so hopefully any answers will be simple for me to understand.
This microphone is compatible with audacity right? While skimming some threads I saw people had issues with it connecting to audacity, but that issue could be for any microphone.
Thanks in advance for answers!

Pop filters, are they easy to rip?
What pop filter you recommend I buy for this microphone on amazon? (Double pop filter, single… also could you provide a link from amazon to which one you think is best)?
Are shock mounts necessary
What microphone stand would you recommend I buy for this microphone on amazon? (I hear people complain about the mini 3 tripod one, so I’m not sure what I should buy).
Keep in mind I’m trying to be as cheap / price efficient as possible! Thank you!
Some of the larger ones won’t fit in your purse or bag, so those are hard to hide. See if they come apart. Some unscrew. The smaller ones also come with a flexible wand holder and they’ll curl up to a nice small size so you can make it past security and safely to your car. Be careful you don’t poke a hole in the mesh. It’s generally about the consistency of nylon women’s panty hose. I made a cardboard sleeve for mine so it will go in the run bag with the rest of the stuff.
What pop filter you recommend
Anything will work including the aforementioned women’s panty hose stretched over a coat hanger. Google the DIY version. I like double. Both work.
And yes it was brought to my attention that the price of the pipe far exceeded the cost of a real shock mount. But I happened to already have the pipe and the rubber bands.

Do not use a desk mount at all. Voice reflections from the desk cause problems.
Note in this picture, the table is covered with two layers of moving blanket to suppress reflections/echoes, and the gold microphone on the left (the main one) is a good distance up – on a shock mount – with blast filter.
The client and the announcer were both happy with the shoot. Yes, that’s Audacity on the computer on the left.
