Applying Limiter to multiple tracks, add blank clips

Audacity version 3.1.3
Windows 10 version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1826)

Whenever I apply the Limiter effect to multiple tracks of varying length, the shorter tracks are extended with a blank clip, so that their length matches the longest track. Deleting them is easy but if there are 40 tracks involved, it’s tedious.
Anyone else noticed this?

Yes. It’s a limitation of Nyquist plug-ins. They see selected empty space as “silence” rather than “empty”.

If there are no other silences in the tracks, you can quickly remove the unwanted silences with the “Truncate Silence” effect (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/truncate_silence.html).

Hint: Set the threshold level to minimum (-80 dB) so as to avoid trimming quiet parts, and enable the “Truncate tracks independently” option.

Thanks Steve - added to the macro I created and the issue is resolved.
