api-ms-win-crt-runtime-1-1 fail

I hava a windows 8.1 enterprise system and I’m trying to install the last not alpha version of audacity, that is 2.4.2 by windows installer. Installation runs well, but when I try to launch audacity it shows the message:
“Program can’t run cause it lacks api-ms-win-crt-runtime-!1-1-0.dll” (Or something like that in english because the original message is in spanish) I have tryed different ways of windoes update but the problem remains. I downloaded the .dll that suposedly would solve the problem and it is still failing. I suppose that a lot of persons have solved this, ¿Is somebody there that could help me? ¿Have I a risk of loosing my computer info when updating?

Thank you for your help

It’s an exe from Microsoft that’s required,
see … https://www.microsoft.com/es-ES/download/details.aspx?id=48145
It has to be the 32-bit version (x86), even if your computer is 64-bit.

I’ve tryed to install 2.4.2 and the x86 version indicated in your answer. The problem remains, so finally I installed 2.0.3 version and it is working. I have an hp elitbook with an Intel I5 2540 processor 2.6 Gb, which is not a very new computer, but not too old. I suffered about a week to install audacity, passing by backup my computer, to install first some updates, then all the available updates, the reistributable C updates, etc. and the only solution I found was that, an older version, Then I uninstalled, reinstalled the x86 version you told me, installed the 2.4.2, and failed. I reinstalled the C update. It failed ever telling the same “api-ms-win-crt-runtime…” I hoped it would be an easier application, but it is not. I hope from now on it be an easier thing
