I already laid down the acoustic guitar track on a song i have composed and would like to record an electric guitar solo. I was recommended to use either Amplitube or Bias fx2 and install it in audacity. Which one is easier to use and has more variety of amplifiers and effects?
I don’t know and I’m not a guitar player… I’m sure different guitar players have different preferences…
First, you need to download the trials to see if they even work in Audacity. The Bias website has a list of supported/compatible hosts applications and Audacity is NOT on the list. It may work but if it doesn’t you can’t complain.
I couldn’t find that information for Amplitube but it says it’s 64-bits so it’s probably not going to work with Audacity (32-bits).
Most commercial (non-free) plug-ins don’t officially support Audacity (and I assume that’s because most Audacity users don’t want to pay for stuff).
Free plug-ins are hit-or miss because the developers don’t have a budget to test every possible host. (Of course, the free plug-ins from the Audacity website all work with Audacity.)
