Akai USB turntable does not work anymore

Ls,
I use a macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012 with Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7, Audacity 2.4.2 and an Akai USB turntable ATT01U.
In the past, about a year ago I managed to digitalise some of my records.
If I try to do it again something goes wrong.
I checked all the tutorials repeatedly and did everything according the instructions.
I didn’t get any signal on my computer Audacity screen. The turntable was at first not connected but later connected with the aux cable with an amp. and it works well, the sound was ok.

Than I downloaded audacity on to a window’s 10 laptop. Did all instructions and now I see a signal in Audacity on my screen when I am recording.
But halas, when I played the signal only skretch sound came out of the speakers.

Hope someone has answer what seems to be the problem, hardware or software?
Is de turntable broke? Both laptops Mac and windows machine seem to work perfectly.
Is there a known problem of my turntable and the new realeas of Audacity?

Connect your turntable to the Macbook. Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input. Select the turntable (it will probably say something like “USB Audio CODEC”). Play a record. Does the input level meter bounce? If not, figure out why.

Start Audacity. In the Device Toolbar select “USB Audio CODEC” as the recording device. Play a record. Click on the Recording Meter to start monitoring. Does the recording meter bounce?

Have you given Audacity permission to use the “microphone”? Go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy. Click on “Microphone” in the left column. Is Audacity listed in the right panel? Is there a checkmark beside it? If not, click the lock to make changes, then click the checkmark for Audacity.

Also consider there may be a speaker issue. Can Audacity play through the speakers directly? Generate a tone and play it. Do you hear it properly, or is there “skretch”?

I hope this helps.
