I regularly use AI to answer my queries & how-tos, for Audacity as well as several other apps, and with a detailed question, I always get a precise & detailed answer. Otherwise I would generally spend a long time scouring the suggestions offered & various similar posts to gradually piece together the same information (if ever).
While we can all go & use our own Chat GPT or Perplexity or Euria (my own preference) I would strongly suggest adding an “Ask AI” option in the menu of this forum to keep it localised here. Maybe along with the official release of Audacity 4?
As well as an “Ask AI” option, I would suggest extending the global reach of this forum with AI assistance for contributors: Add a “Language” item in our account (multi-select for multilinguals) + an Auto-translate checkbox (for languages we haven’t selected). And then a “Translate” button on posts (including in the Compose/Edit box). This would make it far easier for everyone to both read and communicate their questions & responses in the language of their choice. (Remember, only ~18% of the world speaks English, including non-native speakers!)
This is not revolutionary. We live in a world of AI and the promise of Audacity 4 deserves nothing less IMO.
