After resampling a flac music file, I am unable to export

Hello. I am running an older version of Audacity, ver 2.1.1. I have used this app many times working with flac music files. Today I attempted to resample a 192Khz flac file to 96Khz for auto audio use. I was able to import the original audio file, and resample down to the desired frequency. But when I attempted to Export the resampled file back to my drive, I received an error, “The Are No More Files”. I get the same error if I first try a Save Project. As soon as I attempt to save to resampling as a project, I get the same error and there is no project file to be found.

What am I doing wrong?

It’s easier on a newer version.

I don’t know what’s happening but I don’t think you need a “project” at all.

I assume you can open the original FLAC, see the waveform, and play it in Audacity? (Just trying to confirm that it’s an export problem.)

In the current version, File → Export Audio. Select FLAC as the format and then choose your desired sample rate and bit depth.

Or… since you apparently aren’t editing, try Kabuu Audio Converter or TAudioConverter. Once you’ve selected your output format and output location, it’s just drag, drop, and click, and you can batch-convert multiple files.

Thanks for the response. I will upgrade my version of Audacity first. Here are the exact steps I used to attempt the resampling and export. It sounds like it may differ.

  1. Import Audio - Importing the original 192Khz/24 bit flac audio.
  2. Select the track(s)
  3. Click on Tracks / Resample
  4. Select new sample rate - 96000
  5. Click OK (Looks successful)
  6. Verify new sample rate from the tracks info
  7. Play the tracks to verify playability
  8. Select Tracks for exporting
  9. Click on Export Audio
  10. Select location to export and enter file name
  11. Save as type Flac
  12. Click Save
  13. Error/Warning received. “There are no more files”
  14. Check target location. No files found.

Does that sound like the correct process?

I then went back and the original is still 192KHz

I will look to upgrade my Audacity.

Thanks again.

@DVDdoug Thank you again for the suggestions. I first tried to upgrade my Audacity, but the required Windows installer app failed to install. Maybe the installer app needs an installer app😂. So I instead downloaded and installed the suggested Kabul Audio Converter. It was easy and worked like a charm. My car audio system won’t play 192Khz Flac. So I resampled it down to 96K and success!!! Again, many thanks.
