Add timing feature for dead air when using sound-activation recording

I am using Audacity with sound-activation to record synthetic voices that are playing on my PC, and I am having a lot of trouble with Audacity cutting out pauses between sentences and words. I have adjusted the decibel sensitivity level as low as it will go, but the recording of the synthetic voices cuts off any time there is the least pause by the synthetic voice, especially if the voice is speaking slowly. It would be nice if I could instruct Audacity to wait, say, a full second or two after it detects “dead air” before it stops recording.

If I were having this problem, I would record everything (including the pauses), and then use the Truncate Silence effect to remove them.
