A 3.7.7 won't export any track (.ogg vorbis -> .opus opus)

i’ve been having a problem with the program just crashing with an access violation read at 90% of exports. if i recover after a crash, it sometimes manages to export the second time, or export half the track length before crashing, stuff like that. e.g. my last attempt has 47 bytes. unusable, in simple terms.

finding one help thread, someone seemed to fix it by fixing windows, so alright then i said, ran sfc, ran dism, and they both failed to fix so i reinstalled the system (in place, win10 ltsc 21h2). then i reinstalled audacity.

then i checked if all formats were failing. turns out no, mp3, flac, wav all seem to work. but opus doesn’t.

then i checked input formats. opus keeps failing from .ogg vorbis source files. now it seems to export flac/opus/mp3 → opus fine.

but my workflow and preference is to use .opus most of the time. most files i work on are .flac’s of archived music and i save edits or batches in .opus above my transparency range.

so the situation is, ogg vorbis won’t export to .opus container opus codec. it worked fine at some point, for some months it doesn’t. what’s wrong?

Try clearing the project metadata (see last comment in the bug thread)

yes, seems to be exactly that. thank you.

it also seems easy enough to delete all cover arts at once, so i’m all set.

Glad to hear that the workaround still works, though it’s a shame that the bug has been open for 15 months.
