starting well
can make/open a session
can record, store the project
hitting “effect” it crashes
This might help.
Go to ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/Audacity4 and delete the file known_audio_plugins.json
When you start Audacity 4 it will “validate” your plugins.
thx, but
issue is still there
So just clicking the Effect menu causes a crash? What happens when you click the Generate, Analyze, or Tools menus?
Do you have any third-party plugins on your system (other than Apple Audio Unit effects)?
yes, just klicking effect
the other menues work well
can make a project, record, save it
tried to reinstall: no change
hird-party plugins?
dont know
I installed the recomended one (mp3 export, I think)
in audacity3 I installed a plugin (one) - could this affect version4?
the apple crash report is attachedapple crash report
You could try deleting the entire Audacity4 folder.
If that does not help, it seems to me we need to find the plugin that is causing the crash, although I can’t understand how just clicking the Effect menu would cause a crash.
Hi there,
I have the same problem. Just clicking on Effects crashes Audacity (4.0.0.262451605 - would be nice if it were possible to copy that
). I deleted the complete ~/Library/Application Support/audacity folder, but the issue is still there.
I could post a crash report, but 1. it is too long (> 32000 chars) and 2. when I cut it, it says that there are more than 2 links in the post which I’m not allowed to share.
Claude helped. Seems to be issue #12025. When I change the program language to English (GB), the problem goes away. Works for me ![]()
