3rd party Plugins open but just flicker if try to use

I have successfully installed several 3rd party plugins (e.g. Flux Stereo Tools) into Audacity. When I open a sound file in Audacity and click on the plugin in the Effects menu, the plugin opens OK and displays its graphic interface. However, if I then go to Audacity and try to play the audio file, the plugin interface just flickers and does nothing. I have a Windows 8.1 machine

I could be corrected, but Audacity didn’t used to work with plugins that insisted on using their own control panels and interfaces. So I think your Audacity is normal.

Thanks,- that would make sense. Perhaps there is no point in trying to turn off the graphic interface?

trying to turn off the graphic interface?

Whose?

It would help greatly if you said what version of Audacity you are using. Please see the pink panel at the top of the page.

@Koz: Yes of course current Audacity 2.1.2 (as a general rule) works with plugins that have a graphical interface. For example real-time metering plugins will now work, whereas they didn’t prior to Audacity 2.1.0.

@ricaud: To be clear, are you talking about http://www.fluxhome.com/products/freewares/stereotool-v3 ? Which other plugins 'just flicker"? Names of the plugins affected and download URL’s would be appreciated.
