3.7 Appimage still isn't able to link to FFmpeg

The Appimage has been unable to link to the installed version of FFmpeg for some time now. I’ve tried 3.7 and the problem is still there. Trying to link to the library manually does nothing. This makes the software unusable for me because I often import .mkv’s into Audacity to extract the audio. I’m using Linux Mint 22. The Flatpak works fine, and I’m happy to use it but I’d rather use the officially supported option. Is there any work around for this?

does the 22.04 appimage from Audacity ® | Download for Linux fix that?

Works for me on Linux Mint 22 and Debian 12 on my Chromebook. Earlier versions did not. Also block cursor problem on Chromebook solved. So far so good. Using audacity-linux-3.7.0-x64-20.04.AppImage

It did not fix it for me. I tried to erase the folders in .config, .cache, and .local/share/audacity, thinking perhaps it was some kind of misalignment with a version previously installed from the repo. It didn’t work. It can’t access FFmpeg.

Well now here’s something interesting. The appimage for 20.04 does in fact work. The one for 22.04 does not. I’m running Mint 22, which is based on 24.04. What’s the deal with this?
