I just downloaded the new Audacity version 3.6.1. I just created a 30 second intro for an audiobook. I can no longer export my files to .WAV, I keep getting an error message that says Audacity can’t export files larger than 4MB. The file description says it’s 16,220 KB, but if you hover over the file name it says the file size is 15.8 MB. I tried compressing it but it didn’t make a difference at all. I also tried to download the previous version I was using (3.5.1), but then it won’t let me open the files because they were recorded/created with 3.6.1.
Very frustrating! I can’t afford for the hours I spent on this recording to be wasted. Please help!
Save the project, upload it on any cloud filechanger i provide link. I’ll try open the project on my comp
I’m not running into a file size limitation, but every WAV I export is just dead air. No idea what’s going on, been using the same settings I’ve always used. Was trying to use a WAV to drop into a previous version of Audacity as well. Seriously regretting updating right now…
I can’t play the .wav file I just dragged and dropped into Audacity. Do you get the sound wave shape? I have the sound wave shape, but I can’t play. I have not downloaded FFmpeg - could that be the problem? Thanks!
If your wav file is not a true wav, i.e. not PCM, then you need to install FFmpeg to open such wav files.
