Recording starts at end of track

I’m using Ubuntu 21.10

Audacity 3.0.5

I installed it from appimage.

This is a new computer to me.

As the title says, when I try to record, the recording starts at the end of the track.

This bug got fixed in Audacity 3.1. Please try installing the current appimage (3.1.2)

I am using appimage 3.1.2-x86 _64

This is pointless.

I tried uninstalling, and reinstalling.

Now I get an error message.
