Cannot adjust input volume

I cannot adjust the input volume. It says I need to use the “system mixer”. So how do I do that?

I am using a MacBook Pro.

Mac OSX 10.7.5

Audacity 2.0.2, downloaded from dmg.

What are you recording? Some services are non-adjustable on Macs.

Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Do you see the sound device or microphone? Is the volume control maxed out and fixed? If it is, then whatever you’re doing isn’t adjustable on a Mac.

Hello Koz,

Thanks. I checked and it says “The selected device has no input controls”. So I guess it is as simple as that.

I will work with the “amplify” function and see if I can boost the level to something more appropriate.
