I want to record from usb port, not built-in mic.

Audacity (2.2.2) records from mic. (win 10) Changed transport option, turning on software playthrough, and it still records via built-in mic.

You should find and select “USB… something” as your [u]Recording Device[/u].

Close Audacity.

Make sure your USB device is plugged firmly into the machine. Open the Windows control panels, find the USB thing and make sure it’s working. The little Windows bouncing sound meter will bounce if everything is OK.

Then launch Audacity and select the USB thing with the device toolbar.

If it refuses to appear, it’s possible you may have mono and stereo swapped. Some devices don’t like that.
