Edit Metadata Tags dialog window

Perhaps I am missing something. When exporting my project the dialog window that opens for adding information such as Artist Name, Track title etc. I know I can add additional tags such as Location or anything I need. I can save the new form and reopen later and edit as needed.

However I can find no way to change/remove the original tags. I am working on Bird Songs and Calls etc. Artist Name, Track Title, Genre etc are a distraction and not wanted. Is there a way to totally customize this? Meaning remove those Tags and replace with ones I need? Or perhaps a totally blank dialog that I can customize and save?

Thanks,

Mark

The standard tag names cannot be removed from the Metadata Editor. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3#ID3v1_and_ID3v1.1[5](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3#ID3v1_and_ID3v1.1[5)]

“Genre” is one of the standard tags that is defined for most audio formats. If you don’t want a Genre tag, just leave that tag value empty.
If there is already a Genre tag value, you remove it by selecting the tag value, then click the “Remove” button.

There are different standards for different formats. MP3 uses ID3 Tags (and there a few different versions/revisions of the ID3 standard). FLAC uses Vorbis Comments. There is no real standard for WAV files.

Your media player software is looking for the standard tags so it won’t read anything that’s custom or non-standard.
