Primary interest, in Audacity, is for use in modification of audio files found in video containers (ac3, aac, etc.). As such, these are typically a minimum of half-hour length tracks, ranging up to 2 hours or more. It is common to open, and process, 20-30 half-hour to one-hour tracks in a single session.

Also use Audacity, occasionally, to modify music files (primarily FLAC) that range from Classical to Big Band to rock and pop (~1954 to ~1984).
