The reason I’m spending so much time reading Audacity’s manual is that I frequently cannot record. I have checked that my microphone is indeed permitted to be used by Audacity and that it is working. I even verified this with Microsoft support. When Audacity won’t record, the time stamp indicates that Audacity thinks I have Windows 10, but I have Windows 11. I have put my issue in the forum, but received no replies.
Here is my background. I am a retired mathematician who taught at San Jose State University. I spend time chairing the then joint department of Math and Computer Science. I live in Dublin Ca, am an environmental Nazi, and have become an author in my dotage. While I prefer reading books, understanding that audio books are becoming more popular, I decided to record my book.
I’ve found Audacity to be the most convoluted software I’ve ever worked with. My daughter loved earlier versions of Audacity when she was on now defunct KGO radio in San Francisco.
I would love some help in being able to consistently record. It seems as if my desktop has been shut down for a time, there’s a better chance of recording working.
HELP!
