That’s the repair technician’s nightmare. “This can’t possibly be the problem, so I won’t check it.”
How much time have you allotted to reading this book? You can’t go into this assuming everything on your computer is working perfectly. Something isn’t.
Are you on an iPhone and did you find Voice Memos OK? You must find and change the sound quality from “Compressed” to “Lossless”. Compressed is for things like: “Pick Up Milk at Aldi”
I am using an iphone and changed the sound quality of voice memos to lossless. So far I have had no audio blips with it, though I also haven’t had any audio blips on the laptop when I’ve switched back to that.
I did notice a slight smudging on the audio cable that was causing reduced charging speed (ie lower wattage). When I cleaned the smudge, the charge rate went up substantially. I’m wondering if an unclean cable was part of the problem. I will see how it goes with a different cable and with this cleaned one.
The big reason I invested in a separate mic was to reduce the background noise to a minimum. My old laptop produced a distinct buzz or hum. Are recent-generation iphone mics good enough to use instead of a dedicated external mic? If the internal microphone is usable, would I still need some kind of foam cover or sock to minimize the sounds of plosives? I’ll do some experiments with this and see.
One other benefit of the external mic is I can mount it on an arm and place it a few inches from my mouth pretty easily. I’m curious about a setup where the mic is flat on the table. That seems a lot farther from the speaker. Thanks for the pointer.
