Black Soundproof Panels have a number of problems. They work best when they’re separated from the wall by a couple of inches. That gap makes a big difference. They also need to be everywhere. There’s no such thing as white painted wall showing through here and there.
And yes, double up a towel and put it on the table/desk.
A note about acoustic foam. It’s heavy. Packing foam looks like it should work, but there’s a rule that if you can blow it off the table with a breeze or your mouth, don’t bother. Sound has to move heavy acoustic panels to get into your show.
We keep oozing away from actual production problems. Where is the computer and how are you going to watch the bouncing sound meter while you perform? You can’t listen to the headphones while you perform to help even out volume, unless you got a different microphone.
Are you getting really good at editing out the gaps between words? That can easily double the time it takes you to read an audiobook. That’s your job, right?
