RECORD VINYL TO COMPUTOR

Thanks, MUSICMAN1. Good luck with the first recording.

You don’t have to read all the links in “our” Manual at once.

Yes - see Audacity Manual .

Yes if you want to make mp3 files you need to install LAME into Audacity ,
( it’s an add-on than rather than “yet another program” ) …

Well, I made time on Sunday to see if I could record my 45’s. It took some time and trial and error, but I was able to record one box of 45’s. It did take all day, but I’m sure it will go faster as soon as I completely understand what I’m doing.

I’m sure I’m not doing things the “correct” way and there are faster/easier ways to do some things, but at least I’m getting my records on the computer.

Next, I have to learn how to record an album as a whole and have each track record as a separate track. That’s a long way off - I still have tons of 45" I need to record first.

It feels great to be able to say “record” again instead of “burn”.   Reminds me of the good ol’ days.

You can label where each track on the album recording begins and Audacity can batch-process them : automatically exporting each labelled track as a separate audio file.
