Because there are no perfect, stable settings to record Skype on Audacity. We recommend one of the Skype Recording programs such as Pamela, and even Pamela has trouble with some computer systems.

I recorded a test podcast successfully, but I did it with two computers. You may need to zoom your browser wide to see both of them.
Denise is four time zones away, and that is plain, ordinary Audacity on the left-hand computer.
Once you get good enough to have a following, that seems to be the way to go because it’s stable and reliable show after show. That’s how Pando Podcast does it.

Skype is rough to record. They change sound settings in your computer when and how they feel like it.
