Audacity doesn’t run on Android. There are versions for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. (And IMO - a “big screen” is helpful for audio editing.)
This should get you started with “basic editing”.
After you’re done recording & editing, Koz’s Audiobook Mastering Macro will make sure you hit peak & RMS level requirements for ACX submission. (That’s ONLY required for ACX).
The phone/tablet CAN work for recording. Usually the microphone is pretty good and there is no fan or hard drive making noise. The biggest downside is probably that the mic is non-directional so it picks-up noises from all-around in addition to your voice. (Most studio microphones are cardioid/directional so sounds from other directions are suppressed.)
If you record with your phone, find an app that records to a lossless format (FLAC or WAV). It’s always best to work with lossless audio and if you need/want MP3 or another lossy format, compress ONCE as the last step.
Noise (both acoustic and electrical) is usually the biggest issue and it’s the main thing that separates a good home studio from a soundproof professional recording studio.
