And to answer your initial question, Audacity closed normally and I did not power off right after closing the program.

I did not change the “projname” in the AUP file. Move the modified AUP file into the folder that has your “Hillbilly Circus_data” folder and try again.
It’s up to you to piece together the remaining tracks as best you can. I can’t do that for you because I don’t know what the audio was supposed to be and don’t know how many tracks there were after the last complete track in the modified AUP file.
