De-clicker - what's gone wrong?

… I’ve been using the de-clicker plug-in since last year and it’s worked a treat. Now, apparently, without me changing any settings (although that’s always a possibility), my de-clicked samples sound awful - as if the process has taken chunks out of the wave-form. Any ideas? …

The DeClicker plugin is threshold-dependent effect,
so if the recordings become louder it will remove more,
even though the effect settings have not been changed.
