De-clicker - what's gone wrong?

Hello - I’ve been using the de-clicker plug-in since last year and it’s worked a treat. Now, apparently, without me changing any settings (although that’s always a possibility), my de-clicked samples sound awful - as if the process has taken chunks out of the wave-form. Any ideas? I really need it as it’s so useful in my audiobook production. Thanks.

I’m using Windows 10 and Audacity v2.3.2

Most plug-ins can be reset to default settings by:

  1. Click the “Manage” button.
  2. “Factory Presets > Defaults”

That seems to have done it - don’t know why I didn’t spot that - thanks very much.

The DeClicker plugin is threshold-dependent effect,
so if the recordings become louder it will remove more,
even though the effect settings have not been changed.
