Cannot open any file in Audacity [SOLVED]

Yes but is it video files specifically that take too long to import, or WAV, AIFF and all other audio too?

If you don’t know what it means you probably haven’t, and don’t try it.

What it means is that if you use http://retinizer.mikelpr.com/ to retinize Audacity, the export dropdown box for format does not work.

I would try what cyrano mentioned about deleting audacity.cfg. Your Audacity temp folder should then be in the expected location of /var/folders/. You can look in the “Directories” section of Audacity Preferences to see how much space there is available to the temp folder.

I am having the same problem as above. I know that this is an older thread and I am behind the curve, but I fill post a couple separate logs for different file types I am trying to load.
Mac Book Pro OS 10.9.5
Audacity 2.1.0 downloaded from Audacity.org–through authorized provider

This is an m4a file that I can play on my phone with VLC, and on my computer. However, Audacity says that it is making a copy, but nothing appears after the allotted time.

19:03:02: Audacity 2.1.0
19:03:02: Log Cleared.
19:04:03: File name is /Users/Chase/Desktop/Diabetes 1 R2.m4a
19:04:03: Mime type is *
19:04:03: Opening with libav
19:04:03: Opening with quicktime
19:04:03: Open(/Users/Chase/Desktop/Diabetes 1 R2.m4a) succeeded

**even though this said that it succeeded, there is nothing in the window to view.

This is an mp4 file as indicated, and same issue.

19:06:52: Audacity 2.1.0

19:06:54: File name is /Users/Chase/Desktop/Diabetes Some part.mp4

19:06:54: Opening with libsndfile

19:06:54: Opening with lof
19:06:54: Opening with quicktime
19:06:54: Open(/Users/Chase/Desktop/Diabetes Some part.mp4) succeeded

**Once again, even though this said that it succeeded, there is nothing in the window to view.

I have restarted. I have uninstalled and re-downloaded. I have done all the things I think I could do.

Please see Audacity 2.1.0: FFmpeg required for MP4/M4A/MOV/ALAC import for the solution. Install FFmpeg.

Alternatively you may use the 2.1.1rc2 testing version of the next 2.1.1 release Audacity download latest version which should not have this problem.

I was being lazy and not writing out the official website link, but I meant I downloaded from the Audacityteam.org location. Thank you for the information
