Help With Importing mp4

Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".

Help With Importing mp4
So I need to edit the audio in an mp4 file and at first I didn't have the ffmpeg files needed for more advanced files that audacity needed, so I went on youtube to figure out how to do it followed multiple videos step by step through installing. Even after the ffmpeg library autodetects the dll files it needs I still get the "mp4 is an advanced audio coding file audacity can not open" error. I've reinstalled audacity and even reinstalled the needed libraries needed but I still get this error.

We at Aydacity don't make "how-to" videos (they get out of date too quickly) - and most you find on the internet can be wildly inaccurate.

Download BOTH the LAME and FFmpeg libraries.
Extract the files.
I manually put mine into this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\Plug-Ins
Start Audacity..
Edit -> Preferences -> Libraries -> LOCATE
For BOTH MP3 and FFmpeg click Locate -> Browse -> (the needed file shows up in the box but that is deceiving) -> Pick Browse and manually browse to the folder where you put the plugins (.dll files).
I moved all mine to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\Plug-Ins
Do this for BOTH. Restart Audacity and it should work just fine.
