Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Preferences selection closes program

Post by torex » Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:32 pm

I have just upgraded to version 1.2.6 why? because the previous version (I'm not sure what that was, I never checked but I was using it for a few years) all of a sudden was closing whenever I selected Preferences from the File Menu.
SO, I uninstalled it and installed 1.2.6, thinking it would solve the problem. Not. While the Preferences is now in the Edit menu instead of the File menu in previous versions, it still causes Audacity to close when I select Preferences.
Very annoying. Anyone have a solution or a theory?

I swear this is a historical problem, but I can't find it in the face of intense searching. A very very early version of Audacity did that, but that was a great many moons ago.

Which Windows? How much hard drive space do you have and have left?

Did you notice crashing after you installed new plugins? Did you download the VST "Dynamic Flanger" or something like that?

Oh, your last comment reminds me, Koz, doesn't installing the VST enabler sometimes do this to some people?

Yes, the VST Bridge software sometimes causes problems. Correct me, but you only need that handler with VST plugins, right? None of the others?
