WHAT IS Audacity stable?
I was able to load and record an album using the supplied cd for my ION turn table recorder.
However it will only playback on the computer and the cd on the computer .... It will not play in my car or on my home Cd player.
Any suggestions? I tried to contact Audacity and they have never answered the phone after putting me through to tec support.

Re: PLAYBACK
You will have created a DATA CD and not a Music CD - see this article in the Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... o_burn_CDs
There is no phone support for Audacity (so who were you calling???) - just this forum run by a bunch of non-paid forum-elves who answer the queries on this board in their spare time- and sweep up the mess left by spammers so as to keep the board clean and tidy - Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go ......
Adacity Stable: refers to the 1.2 release of Audacity currently at rev 1.2.6 that is suported by the developers. The Beta version is labelled unstable, however 1.3 is pretty mature now at rev. 1.3.7 and will be the basis for the 1.4 (stable) release which should come out later this year - so 1.3.7 is pretty stable - but it is NOT supported by the developers (but they do welcome genuine bug reports) - and the content of the release is subject to change between versions.

Re: PLAYBACK
ION and several other manufacturers decided to build throw-away turntables for people who want to digitize their vinyl collection and then throw it all away.
The problem is sometimes you have to throw the turntable away a little too soon. These are not super high quality devices and many people arrive here on the forum with problems.
The USB causes the most problems and we tell the Mac and Windows deskside people how to get around it. The Windows people on Laptops have a lot more troubles. Windows Laptops tend not to have Stereo Line-In connections.
All this plus the actual turntable part of this isn't going to win any awards, either. It has tracking errors and rotation speed problems.
