That's the only place those files should be, so yes you can delete them, reboot and let the Mac recreate them.rtomasov wrote:So, the files are in /Library/Preferences/Audio?cyrano wrote:Yes. Sorry, brainfart.

I'll let you know what's the result.
Well, it worked and then it didn't.Gale Andrews wrote:That's the only place those files should be, so yes you can delete them, reboot and let the Mac recreate them.rtomasov wrote:So, the files are in /Library/Preferences/Audio?cyrano wrote:Yes. Sorry, brainfart.

Do you still have to select the USB headset in Audacity before the headset can be heard at all in other applications?rtomasov wrote:rtomasov wrote:Fine, thank you Gale.Gale Andrews wrote:That's the only place those files should be, so yes you can delete them, reboot and let the Mac recreate them.rtomasov wrote:So, the files are in /Library/Preferences/Audio?cyrano wrote:Yes. Core Audio seems to be temperamental, or is it OSX?
First try after reboot gave an excellent volume output.
Then it went back to previous state.
Don't know what to think about it.
Thank you all.
This post is becoming a huge behemoth: Neither Audacity v2.1.1 nor v2.1.2 would not launch.rtomasov wrote:rtomasov wrote:Fine, thank you Gale.Gale Andrews wrote:That's the only place those files should be, so yes you can delete them, reboot and let the Mac recreate them.rtomasov wrote:So, the files are in /Library/Preferences/Audio?cyrano wrote:Yes. A double negative means that Audacity would launch.rtomasov wrote:Neither Audacity v2.1.1 nor v2.1.2 would not launch.
You did not attach anything, but simply quit Audacity then delete the audacity.cfg settings file.rtomasov wrote:I've read Gale's post about Audacity not launching and followed instructions therein (please see "audacity.cfgattachment.).
There is no line under "Directories" that looks like TempDir=/tmp/audacity1.2-<your user name
I don't want to delete that line without further instructions.
I thought I did, sorry; I would've liked to re-attach it but both extension cfg and extension rtf are not allowed: what can I do?Gale Andrews wrote:A double negative means that Audacity would launch.rtomasov wrote:Neither Audacity v2.1.1 nor v2.1.2 would not launch.![]()
That was not a double negative but they didn't launch .eother one.

Yes, I do.Gale Andrews wrote: Do you still have to select the USB headset in Audacity before the headset can be heard at all in other applications?
You could perhaps repeat the plist file deletions then reboot, then observe if the problem only starts after the plist files are recreated.

So does the problem only start after the plist files are recreated? It's a thin chance, but it might be possible to edit the plist files. You would not do that in TextEdit though.rtomasov wrote:Yes, I do.Gale Andrews wrote: Do you still have to select the USB headset in Audacity before the headset can be heard at all in other applications?
