This page from the draft Manual for the upcoming 2.1.3 release should explain it all: http://alphamanual.audacityteam.org/man ... on_Windows

Noted, thanks. I am curious about the zip option. Wouldn't you still need to run an exe from inside the zipped version? Or is it portable?

You asked about installation. For that, download and run the installer, not the ZIP.jack magee wrote:I am curious about the zip option. Wouldn't you still need to run an exe from inside the zipped version? Or is it portable?
If you use the ZIP, after extracting all the files from the ZIP, just double-click on "audacity.exe" to launch Audacity. That "audacity.exe" is Audacity itself. There is no installer (such as audacity-win-2.1.2.exe) inside the ZIP file.
