Would an M-Audio Delta 66 that was made around 2000-01 be obsolete?
In other words is there an advantage in having a newer version of this product.

A new one would probably have a warranty.
Driver updates for old hardware are unlikely to be available, but unless you change your operating system that is unlikely to be a problem.
With sound cards, "newer" does not necessarily mean "better". Sometimes, the reasons for manufacturers updating sound cards are for reasons of manufacturing costs rather than improving sound quality.
