Hi all,
I have a problem recording and have attached a screenshot of my issue.
I've recently changed HP laptops and in doing so automatically upgraded to Windows 10 which I don't think is an issue in itself. I record voice overs into my Neumann TLM 103, through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and into audacity.
As you can see from the picture, the top and bottom of the soundwave is cut off. Does anyone know how to get rid of that? I didn't have this problem before changing computers.
I'm very grateful for any help you may be able to give.
Mark

Re: Recording problem, please help
And it clips at 0.5. That's important. It's not generic clipping.
Is there a Focusrite Windows 10 driver or other support software? It's possible the Scarlett isn't supported under Win10.
Pretend you're buying a new Scarlett. Does it say explicitly anywhere in the sales brochure it works in Windows 10?
There's another trick to this. Does it work if you capture it in Stereo rather than Mono?
A real Windows elf will drop in.

Nice microphone. It may or may not be a nice preamp.

You've got a stereo device so you'll need to record in stereo, then delete the silent track and convert to mono (assuming you want mono).
There is some information in the FAQ.

The Scarlett 2i2 is Win 10 compatible, according to Focusrite:
http://us.focusrite.com/downloads/os?pr ... arlett+2i2
However, you need the latest driver and there are problems with upgrade installations of Win 10. I'm guessing Windows doesn't always update all drivers. Solutions are very different, ranging from updating internal audio with the correct drivers, updating USB card reader drivers, and even Wifi drivers. Some users even needed to clean the registry.
The most efficient could be to talk to Focusrite support, as there could be beta drivers for some problems that aren't available on the website yet.
I haven't seen this problem with this setup, though.
I also suppose the light around the gain doesn't go orange or even red?
And I also suppose your computer doesn't have an AMD or Celeron processor?

But that is not a problem in this case, because it is a new machine that came with Windows 10.cyrano wrote:there are problems with upgrade installations of Win 10.
