Is MP3 Copy Protection Possible?

Post by mindmastery » Thu Apr 28, 2016 7:37 am

Hi, Just wondering if it is possible to a) prevent an MP3 recording from being copied? and b) prevent the Metadata of an MP3 being changed or amended by someone else? From what I can tell, the answer to both of these questions is no - but thought I would ask anyway ; )
Cheers,
Craig T

There is no way to prevent a "file" from being copied, other than by preventing it from being read.

If you are thinking about "DRM", that works by restricting the ability to read the file through an "authentication system". As far as I'm aware this does not apply to MP3s.
