My labels wander

Post by formeruser » Mon Mar 14, 2016 4:45 pm

I'm working with audiobook files that run about an hour. They may contain 10 chapters and I put a label at the beginning of each chapter. After editing out breath noises and throat clearing, the labels are no longer in the right place. I've read the section of the manual about labels. There is a lot about deleting labels to retain audio synchronization but I'm not deleting labels, just small snippets of audio. How can I edit the audio track without shifting the labels?

If you select only in the audio track, and then delete. the labels will all stay in their original places, so any labels that come after the deletion point will no longer match up with the audio.

If you select in the audio track and in the label track, then the labels should stay in synch.
Alternatively, you may be able to use the "Sync Lock" feature. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sy ... roups.html
