I use Anvil to play MIDI tracks and record them in Audacity. Most of them are drum tracks with each drum given its own track. Sound activation would make lining all of them up easier. I find that the sound activation can stop the recording between beats. A new setting to keep the recording going for longer would help
Maybe the recording could start with the sound but stay on until stopped manually. And have an adjustable cut-off.

Re: For sound activated recording
If make your drum tracks start with a "click click click click" count in, then lining up the tracks should be easy without the need for sound activated recording.
