What can I do if I am dictating a lengthy hypnosis CD and I make a mistake...how do I stop it and correct it in the middle of dictation, without hearing clicks. I have been having to start over each time taking me days to do just one CD. Help!

Where the clicks are, highlight them, go to Generate, Silence on the top bar, click OK & the click is gone.

You can pause a recording with the pause key, but you can't "back up" and start it again like a tape machine.

So we need to figure out why your edits click. That's not normal.

Many edits click when there is DC or Battery Voltage mixed in with the sound. I have a recording computer that does that because of a very old sound card. Audacity has a tool to get rid of that, but its buried within another tool.

Record a 30 second sample of your work and apply...

Edit > Select > All.
Effect > Normalize > Remove DC Offset (deselect anything else).

When you're done, you should be able to select a tiny bit of performance from the end and Copy > Paste it to the beginning or almost any where else with no clicks or pops. You can also delete a small segment (the mistake) from anywhere and the two surrounding segments will close up with little or no disturbance.

You can get into trouble if you try to cut during loud sounds, those take a little more effort.

See how this goes so far. You may need nothing else. I do what you're doing to several hours of performances each week using Audacity 1.2.

That's odd.

I'm getting sleepy.

I'm feeling very relaxed.....
