XP Professional
LeCab worked for a time; it now shuts Audacity when I click Okay. I ran a system restore, defrag and reinstall but it still happens.

That is a bogus version not made by us, so as you suggested in another post, please update to 2.1.1 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.themickster wrote:2.0.9.
If you have not yet done so, please see Important information for Windows XP users about the security risks of running XP now that Microsoft no longer support it.
If you still have the same problem in 2.1.1 supplied by us, please attach the Audacity Debug Report that will probably be produced after the crash.

We cannot help you with bogus versions of Audacity made by others. I recommend uninstalling 2.0.9. scanning your computer for viruses and then installing Audacity 2.1.1 supplied by us. My mistake. I sent the wrong one. The plugin shuts down with some impulses. Log attached.
