Is there an easy way to take a small sample of the graph and maually remove one or more (single) data points on the X axis and leaving that spance blank- (not interpolate or delete the blank time data point?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "not interpolate or delete the blank time data point". Do you mean remove a data point but don't move the following audio to fill the space?

If that is the case:
1) Zoom in
2) Select the point(s)
3) Click on Edit > Remove Special > Split Cut

Alternatively:
1) Zoom in
2) Use the Draw Tool to move the data point to zero
