Export Labels

Post by andania » Mon Mar 09, 2015 6:55 pm

Windows XP, Audacity 2.0.6, using .exe installer

When using the Export Labels command I have to enter the file name with the file type (i.e. .txt) appended, even though it only gives the option of saving in this format. If I don't do this then the Import/Labels command won't find it. The other commands such as Export automativcally append the file type without the need for me to include it in the file name.

Yes that's a bug specific to Audacity on XP that we probably won't be addressing because we'll eventually be dropping support for XP, as Microsoft already have.

Please be careful with Windows XP. Because Microsoft are no longer officially supporting it, it will be unpatched or not fully patched against any new security vulnerabilities that appear.

Make sure you have XP Service Pack 3 for 32-bit XP or Service Pack 2 for 64-bit XP. The upcoming 2.1.0 release of Audacity will require those Service Packs or it won't launch.

Ensure you have a good third-party anti-virus application. Be aware though that this will not give you complete protection against a previously unknown attack.

For some extra protection you can install http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/jj653751 .

If it is not practicable for you to update to the much more secure Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can consider installing a Linux operating system instead. Most versions are free and all are very secure.

Thanks Gale,
I am about to upgrade to Windows 7 so if it is OK in that, then that's fine.

You don't need to add the .txt extension for labels files on Windows 7.
