Keyboard problem with toolbar buttons

Post by pvagner » Thu Jan 22, 2009 8:34 am

Hello,
Can anyone please try to verify whether it it is possible to use toolbar using keyboard only?
The exact steps to reproduce:
1) open Audacity
2) keep pressing Ctrl+F6 repeatedly until focus moves to any control in the Play Back Control Buttons bar
3) Tab or Shift+tab to the Record button.
4) try to press the Record button using the keyboard by pressing spacebar or enter.

Results:
Spacebar does nothing in this case while enter moves focus to the next control.

Expected results:
Pressing enter or spacebar should press the button and trigger associated action (start recording in this case).

Just for comparison clicking the button instead of pressing spacebar or enter does the trick.

Can anyone please help to verify this? This is critical for keyboard only beginners.

You can use:
"R" to start recording,
"Shift+R" to append recording,
"Space" to stop (Space also toggles play/stop)
"P" to pause

"Home" go to the beginning
"End" go to the end
"J" to track start
"K" to track end
"Right cursor" to move play position right
"Left cursor to move play position left
The "Shift " key in combination with the above keys can be used to select a region.

">" jump right (with Shift key for long jump, without Shift key for short jump)
"<" jump left (with Shift key for long jump, without Shift key for short jump)
