I recorded some audio via my Samson C01U mic, on Win XP Home SP3 using Audacity 1.3.6
Same way as I've always done - only difference is that the USB port for the mic had changed.
And this is how it came out: http://www.digitaltoast.co.uk/files/scr ... sample.mp3 (short 52k sample)
Totally illegible, but from the "voice patterns", it sounded like it recorded at the wrong rate as well.
If I play the mic "live" through headphones, it sounds fine.
I promise I've googled, but can't find anything like it.
If there is ANY way I can rescue this, I would be incredibly grateful. The reason is, there's a scam going round in the UK, and I had been waiting for these people to call me, and what were the chances of them not only calling while I was in, but being next to the PC, loaded and ready to record AND stringing them along long enough to get details?
This recording is VERY important to me. Many thanks.
(BTW, I still have the original aup project files, not just the mp3 export)
1.3.6 Important recording, very scratchy and illegible.

There doesn't appear to be an MP3 file at that address.

I got nothin'.
Why did you move the microphone? What happens if you move it back?
The MP3 file is odd in that it has a 48000 sample rate. Usually only the video people do that.
I can think of a bunch of ways to get extreme damage like that, but they would all fail into live headphones.
How big is your hard drive, how full is it and when was the last time you defragmented? Bad hard drive conditions would account for a live microphone that will not capture. Were you trying to capture to an external USB hard drive?
