Using Virtual Audio Cable for 2 channels

Hello. I have a podcast, and I need to record two microphones on the same computer, which is possible using Virtual Audio Cable. I don't know if anyone here has any experience with Virtual Audio Cable, but since it doesn't have it's own forum I couldn't think of any other place to ask this.

I am without any problems able to combine the two mics into one output to record. But, in order to get more control over the levels in post production, I would like to record the two different mics on two different sound channels, i.e one through the left speaker and one through the right speaker.

In Virtual Audio Cable on Channel Config I set it to custom and use FL for one and FR for the other, and then use the same Line for wave out. In theory I think that that should work, but they both still output to both speakers. I tried using only one mic, with just FL in case Virtual Audio Cable couldn't see the difference between the mics, but here the audio still outputs the sound to both speakers.

I know this isn't a problem with Audacity, but like mentioned, I didn't know where else to ask this question. Does anyone know how to make this work?

We can't offer support for other products. Do you mean http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm ? No Forum Staff uses that to my knowledge because of the price.

You don't say what version of Windows or Audacity. See the pink panel at the top of this page. If you are on Windows Vista or later, can the default format of the Wave Out be set to stereo? See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... es#vistacp .

Have you tried VB-Audio VoiceMeeter ?

I assume USB microphones although you didn't say so. Do you get the drift problems on longer shows? It's possible to get two microphones with little or no timebase error, but that's not normal.
