AudacityWndw opens w/ upper left corner offscreen-won't move

Audacity window opens with upper left corner offscreen, and won't move.

Mac OS X (version 10.8.5)
System: Mac Pro (Mid 2012), 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon; 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3;
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Monitor: ViewSonic VP201b, running 1600 x 1200

The Audacity window opens at the top of the display with the very top edge obscured
and the left edge obscured.

OS X at opening presents a top-of-screen banner, one character high (Apple logo,
current active-window name, a series of drop-down menu names...) The other display
edges normally display nothing (unless you move an icon or window there)

The Audacity window's own top banner appears to be tucked UNDER the OS X top-of-screen
banner; the three left-end colored dots are covered and the rest of that top row as well.

And the left edge of the Audacity window has "disappeared" off the left edge of the
display surface. If the Audacity window is opened to virtually the full width of the
display, approximately 3% of the Audacity left edge is consequently not visible.

There is nothing exposed at the top of the window for me to grab onto with a mouse cursor
to drag the window out of the corner. And I can't get it to move any other way, either.
