USB record player sound problem

Hello. Sorry for the dumb question. I have just bought a USB record player which uses Audacity. I have connected it to the computer using USB, the record player is working, but I can't get any sound through the computer speakers. I have followed all the instructions and adjusted the settings in Realtek, but with no joy. I am using Windows Vista. I am stumped as to what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions very gratefully received. Thanks
