Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

I can't recreate the failure of the Export button. You must have mopped that up along with the other changes.

Or the linux version:

I didn't pile up enough actions to derive a rule. The yellow halo just seemed to come and go at random. I have seen SpaceBar Play work without the yellow halo. What's the difference?
True. Play (should) work with or without the halo. That should be an okay situation. The halo is there to show which track has current focus. So, if a track has the halo (btw: love the term) and you were to SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW a few times, you would see the selection change. It's a close approximation to the highlighted entry in Finder combined with certain behaviors of a text editor...sort of.

However, it sounds like I may need to look into the possibility of a not-so-well behaved halo. I originally had intended to have a track ALWAYS have a halo, but over time this has become less strict and that makes it more difficult to determine when/if the halo should be there.

The halo is a side issue. If you open a sound file in 1.2.5 (Intel Mac), SpaceBar Play works immediately. If you open the same file in 1.3.x, there is no SpaceBar Play until you click or select something.

Yepper, that's the one I'm going to look into. But, I have DVDs of 4400 and Torchwood to watch, so I'm outta here for tonight. :-)

I should also mention that a similar or maybe even the same problem happens on Linux, so I hope to kill two lethargic birdies with one hammer.

Shouldn't y'all be in the same build? Is that how you're keeping the different patches straight? Then merge later.
Actually, Gale isn't even running on a Mac, so I suspect he's just using the same version as you to be able to help properly....

Yes I am Windows only and unless I state otherwise everything I say that happens does so in a very recent Windows build I made from CVS. But for when Leland can't be around, I do try to keep a handle on Mac problems.

In the case of the Export Multiple AIFF/WAV problems, it was a cross-platform issue, so I was just gathering evidence that it was fixed (and trying to get people interested in testing for us on Mac). Thanks, both.

Koz,

If you were to download the latest nightly, I think you will find that the halo is much better behaved. If you find instances where it isn't, let me know. I'm not entirely happy with the "fix" just yet as I was hoping it would correct the Linux problems as well, but I spent pretty much the whole evening bashing my head against the wall to no avail.

Audacity1.3.7-alpha dated 7 JAN 09

The explosions broke. If I launch Audacity from /Applications, I get an exploding icon and an exploding outline. I gained an exploding outline when I launch Audacity from the Dock. Programs generally launch from the Dock without explosions--at least on my machine.

I opened the usual piano clip many ways, piano2.wav > Open As..., File > Open, File > Open Recent. In each case the timeline arrived with the yellow halo and SpaceBar Play worked immediately.

I'm otta time.
