Can't access USB HD when turntable connected
I've Just installed the innovative technology USB Turntable Model: ITUT-201 I got for Christmas and have a different problem. Audacity works just fine and dandy. But while the turntable is connected to the USB port I can't connect my FreeAgent Go 80meg USB hard drive. I plug it in and it's never added to "My Computer" nor shown in the "Safely Remove Hardware" system tray applet . Once I disconnect the turntables USB cable and try plugging the drive back in all is fine.
Re: USB Driver not installing
I was following and reading the requests for help from taaffee. I am having the same problems with my newly acquired ITUT-201 USB turntable. My computer sees it, but will not allow me to select it, because there is no driver. Also Audacity does not recognize it as an option under "Edit" "Preferences" "Audio I/O" "Recordings". What shows up there is the usual, Microsoft Sound Mapper and Sigma Tel Audio, but not AK5371, that my computer sees. Any ideas on how to get Audacity to see it?
Re: USB Driver not installing
It sounds like there is an incompatibility between the two devices.JohnGoodin wrote:while the turntable is connected to the USB port I can't connect my FreeAgent Go 80meg USB hard drive. You could try connecting the devices in a different order, or different USB sockets and see if that makes any difference. Other than that it's a matter of taking the issue up with the manufacturers/suppliers, but I think the likely outcome will be that you have to live with it.
What do you mean by "your computer sees it"? What signs are there that your computer knows that it is connected?MrEd wrote:My computer sees it, but will not allow me to select it, because there is no driver. The usual fix is to connect the turntable, then reboot the computer with it connected.

Re: USB Driver not installing
Yep if I connect the USB hard drive first then the USB Turntable all works great.
Re: USB Driver not installing
By my computer seeing: If I go into "Control Panel" "Sounds and Audio Devices" and the "Hardware" tab, the USB turntable shows up there as AK5371, but if I try to troubleshoot that device, it tells me that the driver is not installed and the device might not work.
Re: USB Driver not installing
OK, I've done a quick "Google".
"AK5371" sounds like it should either be a sound card or a Russian semi-automatic weapon, but in fact it is an AD chip with USB and stereo microphone inputs. Your turntable may easily be seeing the turntable as that (usually they have names like "USB audio").
Are you on Vista or XP?
If you are on Vista, you will probably have to enable it in the Control Panel as a recording device. If you are on XP, go straight to the Sounds and Audio Devices icon (in Control Panel Classic view) and see if you can set it as the default recording Device.

If that is using the Windows Trouble Shooting Wizard, then I'm not surprised. I've never yet had any useful information from them. Many USB devices are designed to be "driver-less", so it is quite likely that the trouble shooter will register that as a problem.MrEd wrote:if I try to troubleshoot that device, it tells me that the driver is not installed and the device might not work.
That is good - and it doesn't show up as a yellow question mark, or have a red sign by it?MrEd wrote:If I go into "Control Panel" "Sounds and Audio Devices" and the "Hardware" tab, the USB turntable shows up there as AK5371

Re: USB Driver not installing
ANYONE know how to adjust the turntable arm? I connected it all, software installed fine. The only adjustment I see is the ONE screw at the top BACK, I believe this is ONLY for transportation. I did ajust it UP and DOWN, the turnable needle just SLIDES across the album....
ANY SUGGESTIONS??????

Re: USB Driver not installing
Check that the turntable is completely level (left/right and front/back)
Get a magnifying glass and inspect the stylus.
Check the manual - does your turntable have an anti-skate device? Is it in place and adjusted correctly?

Steven, yes, the table is level, the Stylus is straight (and doesn't look like it has flat spot). Not sure about a Anti-Skate, but this little manual doesn't mention anything about adjustment just replacement of Stylus

If this is a USB turntable, can you state make and model? Does turning the counter-weight at the end of the tone arm counter-clockwise help?
