Forum rules
ImageThis forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

All you need to do is copy and paste audacity.cfg, not double-click on it.

If you don't need Kontakt to open files with .CFG extension, you can make TextEdit open .CFG files instead.

To do that, right-click or control-click over audacity.cfg and choose "Open with", then "Other...".

In the window that opens, put a tick mark in the "Always Open With" box, select "TextEdit.app" then click "Open". Now, audacity.cfg and other .CFG files should open with TextEdit and not Kontakt.

If you need to open a .CFG file with Kontakt, you can still do so by right-click or control-click over the file then choose Kontakt from the list.
